Anthony C. Beilenson Park – Lake Balboa
Lake Balboa is located at Anthony C. Beilenson Park. Anthony C. Beilenson Park is an 80 acre water recreation facility within the Sepulveda Flood Control basin. The centerpiece of the park, Lake Balboa, is a 27 acre lake filled with water reclaimed from the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant. Recreation activities include fishing, boating, remote-control boating and jogging/walking. Access is from Balboa Boulevard. Pets are allowed but must be leashed. Owners are responsible for removal of defecation. Dogs are not permitted to swim in the lake.

The Botanical Gardens are an ever-changing exhibition of color and a constant delight. Covering 120 acres, more than a dozen specialized gardens are arranged within a park-like landscape of rolling lawns. Among the most remarkable are the Desert Garden, the Japanese Garden, the Rose Garden, and the Chinese garden. The camellia collection is one of the largest in the country. Getty Villa
The Getty Villa in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, is one of two locations of the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty Villa is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. Villa Gardens are integral to the setting of the Getty Villa, as they were in the ancient Roman home. South Coast Botanic Garden
The South Coast Botanic Garden is a 35 hectare (87 acre) garden in the Palos Verdes Hills, in Palos Verdes, California, USA, about 16 km (10 miles) south of Los Angeles International Airport. It has over 150,000 landscaped plants and trees from approximately 140 families, 700 genera, and 2,000 different species, including flowering fruit trees, Coast Redwoods, Ginkgos and Pittosporum. It is particularly rich in plants from Australia and South Africa. Its gardens include the Water-wise Garden, Herb Garden, English Rose Garden, and Garden of the Senses. A small lake and stream bed attract various birds such as ducks, geese, coots, and herons. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve
Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a state-protected reserve of California, USA, harboring the most consistent blooms of California poppies, the state flower. The reserve is located in the rural westside of Antelope Valley in northern Los Angeles County, 15 miles (24 km) west of Lancaster. The reserve is at an elevation ranging from 2,600 to 3,000 feet (790 to 910 m) above sea level in the Mojave Desert climate zone. The reserve is administered by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. Other wildflowers within the reserve include the owl’s clover, lupine, goldfields, cream cups and coreopsis.

The Flower Fields in Carlsbad Ranch
The Flower Fields is a flower garden found on the Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, California. It opens up once a year in spring from March 1 through May 10. The area has a number of attractions, including its “Tecolote Giant Ranunculus”, a greenhouse filled with cymbidium orchiuds, 300-by-170-foot American flag made out of red, white, and blue petunias, and musical events. Educational tours are hosted every year for both children and adults; in 2015, more than 7,000 school children were expected to visit through one of these educational tours. A deal was struck to protect The Flower Fields from being used for development. The Flower Fields increased the cost of admission in 2015 by one dollar in order to deal with rising costs due to the recent drought.

Lovers Point Park is located at the foot of 17th Street, and is a landscaped community park of 4.4 acres. It is used for picnicking, fishing, swimming, water sports, and surfing. Lovers Point’s amenities include a large lawn area, a beach volleyball court, a children’s swimming pool, sandy beaches, rocky outcrops, a concrete pier structure, a restaurant, and a snack bar.
